Hi All!
We've had a few comments recently about an warning message that pops up on some threads stating 'Warning: Something's not right here!
www.nras.org.uk contains content from picturesanimations.com, a site known to distribute malware. Your computer might catch a virus if you visit this site.'
After talking to our website developers I have been informed that this message is referring to the animated avatars that some of our users have on their profile and which then appear next to their comment on a thread. While these users have been doing this for a long time it is only recently that this message has started appearing on some people's computers.
While the warning pop up box is just there to tell you not to use the website picturesanimations.com and merely seeks to prevent you from damaging your computers, we have been made aware that this has put some people off from opening a thread and using the forum.
The warning gives the option to 'proceed anyway' which is safe to do, but I am afraid that we will have to ask all users to remove any animated avatars in a bid to stop these warnings from coming up. I'm sorry to spoil the fun but it seems that this is our only way to avoid losing visits and making sure all users get to see your posts. The animated smilies are perfectly safe to use, it is simply anything linked to the 'picturesanimations' website via another forum user.
Let me know if you have any questions on this. Have a lovely weekend!
Kind regards,
